UPDATE: I have made three transcriptions (so far): one for cello and piano (a cello obbligato to go with the solo piano original), one for viola and piano (a viola obbligato), and one for trumpet and piano. All are available through the transcription tab on the above IMSLP link.

This set of solo piano preludes for the Jewish year of 5775 (our current) has a piece for every month. I wrote it in memory of my brother Marshall Fine who died during Elul of 5774. The music is available on this page of the IMSLP, as is a set of computer-generated audio files.

Now arranged for flute ensemble with optional clarinet and bass clarinet. The first performance on October 31, 2021, by the Eastern Illinois University Flute Choir, just happened to take place while President Joseph R. Biden was at the 2021 G 20 Summit.

Prairie Snow
I would love to be able to write a "pop" song that would capture the essence of the winter season, but I guess I don't really have it in me to write a "pop" song. Perhaps I could add some words, or even some kind of syncopated rhythm section, but I think that it would compromise this little tonal picture for solo piano of winter out here on the prairie.
